Not Every Doctor Can Detect Fibromyalgia

People affected by fibromyalgia disease may have to visit several doctors before getting a correct diagnosis.  Not every doctor can detect fibromyalgia in the first visit.

This is because the symptoms of fibromyalgia, like chronic pain and fatigue, overlap with those of several other conditions like hypothyroidism and myofascial pain syndrome.

There are no standard specific laboratory tests for fibromyalgia and the person may not have pain at the time of visiting the doctor.  In such a case, the doctor will only attribute the symptoms to fibromyalgia where they can clearly rule out other medical disorders.
