The American Heart Association “American-Heart-Month”

1- Heart disease
is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S.  Each
year, about 700,000 people in the U.S. die of heart disease.

2 – Of the 2.4 million American deaths each year, more than 36% die from heart-related illnesses, compared to 23%  deaths from cancer.

3 – Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death, killing about 150,000 people a year.

4 – An estimated 80 million Americans in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease.

5 – In 2007, the total cost for heart-related medical care and disability
in the United States, was estimated to be $431.8 billion.

6 – Every year since 1963, Congress has required the president to proclaim February “American Heart Month“.

7 – This proclamation for February is “American Heart Month“, not “Heart Month” or “National Heart Month” as commonly used.

Actor Kelsey Grammer, Frasier, Dead Of A Heart Attack – He Said!

Thankfully, actor Kelsey Grammer, best as Frasier in the sitcoms "Cheers" and "Frasier," is still alive and well after his recent heart attack. He told Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, that he knew then he was dead from a heart attack. Kelsey Grammer told Jay Leno he was amused at the later news reports which made it sound like mild heart disease, while he knows the heart attack killed him.
